Highland Specialties is a local family-owned business with a leadership team of four owners/two families. Each of our owners bring many skills and experiences to support our growing business.
Two of our owners have had the opportunity to be a part of the construction community here in Southeastern Idaho. While managing projects they have seen and heard a desire for a local Division 10 supply and install company. Being general contractors themselves, they have the unique perspective of both the GC and subcontractor.
Nick Segard grew up in Virginia but has called many places home over the years. He graduated from BYU in Construction Management and has worked in the field for about 10 years. Nick thrives on creating long lasting customer relationships and seeing a job run smoothly. He recently traveled to the home of his ancestors in Scotland where he was introduced to the Scottish culture. Highland Specialities is a tribute to those who came before him. Nick enjoys disc golf, wood working, and cold baths. He loves sharing his obsession of LEGOs with his daughters and watching them build new things.
Kastina Segard was born and raised in Alaska where she grew to recognize the importance of living in a place with lots to do outside. When Nick's job took them to Idaho, she fell in love with the area and people. Kastina graduated from BYU in European Studies with an emphasis in International Business. She has been involved in the world of business from a young age working in various positions such as customer service, receiving, and accounting. Kastina loves all things outdoors, but especially skiing and hiking. She loves a good book and sharing that love of reading with her two girls.
Josh Halstead is originally from Virginia where he fell in love with construction at a young age. Josh attended BYU-Idaho and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Construction Management. He has been able to travel the United States working with several companies, a favorite was in Utah where he was part of the team to construct the Salt Lake City International Airport. But when Idaho called, he couldn't resist. Josh loves all things sports, music, and working out.
Whitney Halstead has always been surrounded by mountains in Northern Utah, so windmills were a change. She graduated with a Masters of Education and was in the field for 8 years. Once she added small humans to her own family, she began working in Title and Escrow as it involved a significantly smaller amount of children. Currently she is using her skillset to keep 4 future Highland Specialists in line. The rest of the time she enjoys cross stitching, baking shows, and true crime.

Unfortunately, the National Animal of Scotland is not a Highland Cow. Fortunately, it is a Unicorn. Hip Hip Hooray for Magic and Wonder!
